Every parent wants to believe their child is special. One group claims its children are extra special.
Followers of the Indigo Children movement, which started in the 1970s, say a new generation of highly sensitive and spiritually gifted kids are here to save the world. They claim many of these kids are exceptionally smart, self-motivated and sometimes able to read minds.
But some doctors say these so-called Indigo Children exhibit characteristics of bipolar and attention deficit disorders. They worry that Indigo parents won’t provide their kids with the assistance they need — especially parents who advocate alternative health regimens in place of medication to control their children’s behavior.
The movement has gained momentum in recent years following the release of the cult movie The Indigo Evolution, and the popular book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober.
Carroll and Tober define being an Indigo Child by the following 10 characteristics:
• They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
•They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others do not share that.

• They often tell the parents "who they are."
• They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
• They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
• They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and do not require creative thought.
• They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (non-conforming to any system).
• They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
• They will not respond to "guilt" discipline. ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did.").
• They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.
Are you an Indigo? Take the quiz.

Our children are our evolution - just because their behavior doesn't fit "the mold" doesn't mean it's abnormal or requires modification - "and a little child shall lead them...." Children & animals have a lot to teach us all. With regard to Elizabeth Robert's comments re "proof" - who can prove there is a God? Who can prove what love is? Who can prove any creation theory? Or that all the facts in the bible are true? It is arrogance to assume that any of us know the answer to some very big questions about where we are headed. In order for us to evolve, we must open our minds to the possibility that we all have much to learn and in order to do so we must assume the simple faith of the children who have so much to teach us.

I have to say thanks for the information about "Indigo Children". Whatever one's personal belief about whether these children are "Indigo" or not, just looking at the ways to deal with children (all children) by giving them choices and then opportunities to practice choice making is a good thing. It is something I use a lot in working with children, and really have seen good results just with that practice.

Oh my GOD!!!!! I cannot believe the state of CO gave my nephew to a bunch of freaks!!!! I can't wait for the day he turns 18 and I can show him all the papers and how we fought for him! Until then I will pray to God he doesn't turn out like the freaks that stole him from us.

Another question...how are all the Wertz's children indigo???? They are all adopted, except their own 2 daughters. Did the "Indigo" god pick them for all the children???? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they don't "drug" the kids, but they are still freaks.

oh so these adults are all aliens are they?
They dont seem to know how children really are...and adults if they are lucky....they havent been around in the 60s?...they mustve missed all those young things wanting to change the world, to bring peace, to consider the environment (oops they didnt get that one did they...they will no doubt add it when they catch up with the news)..and intuition..they obviously didnt know about that...something we all have if we are allowed to be human..thats why we have a word in the language you know..its been around a long time this intuition.
This says more about the sorry state these adults are in or the sorry state of the culture they must live in...poor things dont realise the rest of the world sees all these things as normal human traits...human at its best that is..they must ve missed out somewhere..could it be their diet poor things. Maybe we wouldnt need to want peace and well being for the world if the likes of them and their culture didnt create the mayhem they do.
Im not an old hippy and Im certainly not ADHD and I was definately too awake to take on board any brain washing by my parents..like these kids here. Im not the young generation anymore either...
Thank God there are some real positives in the world to be grateful for...these poor kids with their ego ego very mood making parents, and money making author are certainly not among them.

The part I like the most is that they don't respond to guilt discipline and question authority. These are traits we all need. There is no self responsitility nor evolution without questionint and evaluating.

When I look at indigo children I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand sure, there are a lot of children who have learning disabilities whom are ever coming more a where of the spiritual surroundings that are all around us, including energy frequencies, But dose that mean that they are indigo children, or spiritual evolved kids, or perhaps just very imaginative creative or intuitive? The real factor is nothing is wrong with any of these possibilities. They all have something to offer in this world if they chose so. So perhaps we should be asking what’s with the media interest. Why put a pedestal on these kids alone? It seems that once again the SYSTEM is trying to take control and create segregation rather then letting the falling leafs fly where they may. Another thing why is it that kids with ADD and ADHD are being recognized as kids whom are indigo or in other words think differently??? What about Hyperactive kids, Kids with compulsive disorders, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder or dyslexia, and what about these so called crystal children whom are autistic, the next wave supposable, or any of the other thousands of learning disabilities and psychological disabilities that there are? I like to hear more about the others too. Let us look at kids with ADD or its counter part ADHD. Sure we could say these kids are super intelligent. It’s like a pinball machine of the kind of knowledge that they spit out. They just keep going, going, going, both intellectually and physically. But is that not still a disability?? Now befoure you all BOOO me out of the comments. I think that it is both a gift and a disability, as this gives us first hand description on a cognitive firing stand point of the process of thought, in a way that we probably never could have imagined before thanks to these kids and adults, but... They still lack the ability to be the opiset, to take life with in the rhythm, and to slow down and take a moment of peace and tranquility on a spiritual level. To reflect and perhaps come lost in the silence of life. Could it be that perhaps these very children, or adults lack spiritual contentment, or maybe a true spiritual experience of self in this worldly environment, these so called savors of the world??? This is why we need to know more of such knowledge. If not then we will ether be hypnotized by the beautiful mystery, or fearful of its hidden agendas and results on our world. Perhaps both is an illusion and if so where do these indigo children really stand then?
When I think about parents, as a person who has shared my own experience with learning disabilities I understand perfectly well the fear factor that parents have with learning there child may have these disorders. Normally when growing up probably the most politically correct word would be to say Special Ed person. It sounds nicer. Often there is a sense that they want their child to feel able, and capable in a world that dose not always share the last piece of bread. But to let your kid think that he, or she is some kind of spiritual or intellectual savior is not only ludicrous in its point, but the tremendous amount of stress emotionally on the child would be amplified, considering the difficulties they would be having in public educational system if they are not homed schooled. Many kids today have to worry about social school norms and life, and where they stand in that. There marks. Pleasing there parents most of the time, and finding out where they stand in the world. Do they really need more anxiety and stress from you??? The factor is Children with learning disabilities do have disabilities. They do lack in spelling, math, or other various cognitive ways of thinking and classes. GET OVER IT!! That the life story for all us learning disabelled fokes. All I can say to the adults and parents is honor your children. Honor that they are not perfect by strive to be the best they can be. Honor the moments that they lack in as humility. Honor the moments that they succeeded in as a reflection of possibility. Honor there tears of frustration and give them space. Honor there lapther as moments of the moments, and honor when they come to you for help. Help them grow in the things they lack in and give them patience. It is not your fault, so stop blaming yourself SHIT HAPPENS!!!!Work with the gifts that are right in font of you now. If you truly believe it is necessary to find if your child is a indigo, ask them some serious philosophical questions and see what they come up with, or how they answer it. This is if the child wants to do this too. Do a flash card game with out the kid seeing it, and see how much he or she gets it right. If they get over half they could be very intuitive a characteristic of the indigo children. Even if your child isn’t it at lest you spent time with your kid getting to know him or her, and is that not a grater gift?
I think it is important that we just look at both sides of the spectrum before we rush into one view being the only view. Or if we don't then aren’t we being just as ignorant as those whom put up these system blocks in our society from reaching our true divinity? How is that the indigo way? We have to look at the cons and the pros of this way of living before we can truly unmask the very nature and truth of the indigo world. Perhaps learning all a little more about ourselves a long the way. Perhaps that is the indigo child’s purpose.
Sincerly

The Wertz family in paticular are insane. ALL, I repeat ALL of their children are adopted except 2 biological daughters. My nephew is one of them, he's in the yellow shirt at the top of the page. I know it's him because he looks exactly like my father, brother, and other nephew, even tho he's my sister's child. We fought and fought for him not to be placed with these freaks, but rather with family. Unforunately he had a corrupt social worker who promised these freaks they could have them WITHOUT going through the proper legal process of trying to place him with family. Fortunately for him when he does turn at on June 19, 2018 he will know who his family is. I hope to GOD by then it is not to late to save him. The "INDGO" god did NOT just drop him off on their freaking doorstep. These freaks can keep saying that all his allergies are diet related. But if they looked at his family history they would realize they are WAY wrong. We have a family history of seasonal allergies and antibiotic allergies that runs in our family. These people are crazy, just go search the mom's name on the internet. She's into some crazy stuff. I wouldn't doubt they belonged to what some of us would call a cult!

My child died by hanging 2 days after his 13th b-day. He was an Indigo, I half-heartedly believed it then; he was also diagnosed bipolar and for 2 years we tried all the different meds, 'cause I also wanted to respect the traditional medical community's assesment of my child, my only child, who is now dead. I wish I had just found a non-traditional school where he would have been "accepted" as different. It's too late for me, but not for you. Drugging kids, is it really the answer. It had beyond devestating results for my son.
